What a beautiful day for a birthday!

Our little Monkey turned 5 today. We took her on a hike with our friend Tanda where we had mountains on one side and a view of the coastline on the other side. She got a special dinner and her own antler before bed. And of course we sang Happy Birthday to her! 🙂

A time for thanks, family, many games of Setters of Catan, a deep-fried turkey, and love.

We hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

That’s right, Casey is now an Uncle! We welcomed Molly’s son Anthony on November 8th, 2013.

I painted this sign for him and gave it to Molly at her baby shower.

We can’t wait to see him grow up!

My Mom and I headed out to the Santa Barbara Polo Fields early this morning to take a look at Oprah’s “yard sale.” It was an auction full of her personal belongings to benefit her Leadership Academy Foundation. We arrived super early so we had time to preview the items and take our pick of seats.We were happily surprised to find out that Oprah herself was there! She came out at the start of the auction and stayed for about an hour. She took bids and told funny stories about the items. She got the crowd fired up for some bidding wars, which was entertaining to watch. Before she left, she posed for a few minutes for pictures. We were less than 3 feet away! It was a very fun morning 🙂

I have been exercising and training this beautiful Aussie, Indie, for the last two weeks. We often go on morning hikes at one of my favorite local spots. (Check out this post on my pet blog for more adorable pictures of Indie and our adventures together!)

But on the last two days, I came across these two awesome snakes! First was the beefy gopher snake, then came the king snake! I moved them off the path so they wouldn’t get caught by any dogs or stepped on, and Indie and I went on our way 🙂

On the rare occasion that everyone is home at dinner time, sometimes we like to head to the harbor for a dinner treat. We often hit up “On the Alley,” one of our favorite local restaurants by the harbor. The pork tacos are oh so yummy!

That night there were fishermen unloading thousands of urchins off of their boats and hauling them up onto the docks by the net full. They had several large truck loads stacked full of urchin crates. After a walk down to the breakwater, spotting a heron night fishing, and running into a dear old DogWatch customer, it was time to head back home.

What a nice evening!

You are the best brother ever and I sure am glad you were born. ♥
